The Shaman of Karres – Snippet 33

The Shaman of Karres - Snippet 33 When they were done searching, Goth collected her bag from the junk they'd just piled back into the little cabin they'd tried to lock her into… And then had second thoughts. She took her clothes out of that bag, put them into Pausert's mother's ship-bag and filled hers with some of the stuff lying around. Then she went back to cabin belonging to "the Boss," whoever he was. As Forz had made Felap clean it generally, as well as just clean up the glass, the stateroom was now less dusty and more pleasant. Goth...

Concerning the Electoral College, or the Twaddle has Finally Gotten to Me

As those of you who regularly visit this web site or my Facebook page know, I don't often post political statements. There are two reasons I don't. The first is because most people who visit the sites are either family or personal friends of mine who are already well aware of my political views, or people who are mostly interested in me as an author. The second reason is even simpler. If there is a more monumental waste of time than arguing politics on the internet—especially Facebook—I have yet to find it. (Watching paint dry comes a distant...

Ganny Knits a Spaceship

NEW NOVEL YOU SHOULD BUY Just published: David Gerrold's Ganny Knits a Spaceship. This story is reminiscent of the great Robert Heinlein young adult novels. Starling and her grandmother operate a way station in the asteroid belt. For decades, Ganny has had a very successful business, using her way station to sling cargo and passenger ships all over the asteroid belt and to most of the planets as well. But now, technological advance and corporate greed are threatening her livelihood and the continued well-being of her grand-daughter. Digging...

Fund-Raiser

My friend and co-author Ryk Spoor has fallen on hard times and he's set up a fund-raiser for himself and (mostly) his family. I've posted the link below. I've contributed to it myself and I'm urging anyone else who's got the wherewithal to do so as well. https://www.gofundme.com/bail-out-the-sinking-ship Fair closure: I am not (clears the throat) an entirely disinterested party in this matter, seeing as how Ryk and I will be starting on another collaboration soon and I dammit don't want him preoccupied and distracted by financial...

THE DEMONS OF PARIS

I just finished the manuscript for a novel titled THE DEMONS OF PARIS. This is the first book in a series I'm starting with Gorg Huff and Paula Goodlett. They have now been co-authors of mine on four novels -- three in the 1632 series (1636: The Kremlin Games, 1636: The Viennese Waltz and the upcoming 1637:The Volga Rules) as well as The Alexander Inheritance -- and by now we have a very productive and comfortable writing partnership. The series is a cross between alternate history and fantasy. The alternate history aspect is that it begins...

Iron Angels – Snippet 38

The book should be out now so this is the last snippet. Iron Angels - Snippet 38 Chapter 21 "Where have you been?" Rao flipped up his sleeve and twisted his wrist over, examining a gleaming band. He was one of those people who wore the face of his watch on the underside of his wrist. Lali's fascination with the man had begun a few months ago, but everything happened so quickly afterward. An odd man had sought her out at the diner. He lacked distinguishing features, but the man's oddness remained with her -- shaved head, bleached eyebrows, and...

Iron Angels – Snippet 37

Iron Angels - Snippet 37 A chair squeaked, and Carlos stepped out of the shadows near the back of the office, as if he'd been hiding. "What can we help you with today, officers?" Steve leaned against a filing cabinet, which emitted a screech as it slid an inch or two on the tile flooring. "Special Agents," Temple said. "Carlos may have information on the accident and kidnappings. May we speak with him alone?" Jasper asked. "Nah, let's just chat all together here, sound good?" Steve stated, more than asked. "If Carlos agrees," Temple said....
